The battery is empty. The race is over…
Saturday was the last day of the Dong Energy Solar Challenge 2012. We started in Dokkum to finish at the Grote Wielen in Leeuwarden. After that first leg we would finish after a last sprint to the centre of the capital of Friesland.
An exiting last day. Could we fight back in the top five?
Frinday the 13th... Or maybe not so!
At Thursday we brought the battery to our battery supplier and our man Uty spend a whole evening to dry it and clean it after the disaster that struck us that day.
Friday was supposed to be a important day. The battery was back at the paddock at 06.00 o'clock in the morning. Ready to be wired again as the heart of our boat.
In the first place the battery seemed to work fine. Lights where shining and the vans where running!
A excelent start but a bitter end…
During the lay day, Jeroen and Jorrit made a lot of noise at our booth in Bolsward. Flags, a specification billboard and of course our boat drew a lot of attention. At the end of the day our builder Epomat showed up as well. Hendrik and Justus from WhisperPower swopped the sprockets in the POD with new ones. We also replaced the vertical shaft of the main engine because there was a small deviation in the top end where the chain sprockets are attached. On Thursday morning the whole propulsion system was running as never before...
